Programme for the AAM ‘Sanctions Now!’ march and rally held on 24 October 1987. Around 60,000 people walked from the Thames Embankment to Hyde Park. The speakers listed in the programme were joined by ANC leader Johnstone Makatini. On the same day Wales AAM organised a 4,000-strong march through Cardiff City Centre. The marches followed the Commonwealth conference in Vancouver, where British Prime Minister Thatcher was the only dissenting voice from a new Commonwealth sanctions package.
